Preheat the oven to 450°F. Place the beef in a bowl; season with salt, pepper, and the spice blend. Gently mix to combine. Form the mixture into four 1/2-inch-thick patties. Transfer to one tray; arrange in an even layer. Bake, uncovered, 10 minutes. Leaving the oven on, remove from the oven.
Meanwhile, wash and dry the asparagus. Snap off and discard the tough, woody stem ends. Transfer to the remaining tray; drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat and arrange in an even layer. Roast, uncovered, 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned and tender when pierced with a fork. Remove from the oven.
Carefully flip the partially cooked patties; evenly top with the cheese. Return to the oven and bake, uncovered, 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through.* Remove from the oven.
Meanwhile, if necessary, halve the buns. Wrap the buns in foil and place directly onto an oven rack; warm 5 to 7 minutes, or until heated through. Assemble the burgers using the warmed buns, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, cooked patties, and pickles. Serve the burgers with the roasted asparagus. Enjoy!
