Collection includes 6 x 500 mL bottles (2/3 of a standard-size wine bottle) featuring the following wines:
  • 2016 Blue Quail Sauvignon Blanc: Guinness McFadden is a California-wine pioneer, with more than four decades’ experience growing grapes organically. The business student turned bullish farmer was the first to show that seemingly inhospitable Potter Valley is perfect for growing grapes with powerful flavors. Today his son, Jameson—non-wine names intentional—continues to prove Potter Valley’s prowess. To preserve this wine’s flavors, he pressed the grapes gently to avoid extracting bitterness from their skins.
  • 2017 Brick & Mortar Chenin Blanc: Engineer–turned–wine-geek Matt Iaconis is all about precision. So when he told us that Lodi has one of California’s best spots for Chenin Blanc—not a common belief—we listened. Matt found vines that, according to his measurements, thrive in a small area that’s warmer by day and cooler at night than the rest of Lodi. This results in a crisp, zesty Chenin Blanc akin to those from France’s Loire Valley. “The wine speaks of California in an Old World sense,” Matt says.
  • 2016 Le P'tit Paysan Riesling: Ian Brand loves being a winemaker, from doing the dirty work scrubbing the inside of a steel tank to rubbing elbows with sommeliers in fancy restaurants. He doesn’t do much of the latter nowadays; he spends most of his time in the vineyards. With assurance that each grape bunch will be perfectly ripe and packed with flavor, those sommeliers are always calling Ian for more wine. If he doesn’t answer, it’s the steel tank that’s probably blocking his cell signal.
  • 2017 Anne Amie Muller Thurgau: As they say at the Anne Amie winery, “It’s Müller time, baby!” Müller-Thurgau, genetically similar to Riesling, is mostly found in Germany, Austria and northern Italy, and often used to make sweet wines. Zesty Cuvée A, however, is an American original. Anne Amie’s Müller-Thurgau vines were planted in 1979, in the heart of Oregon’s Pinot Noir country—and 40 years on, this might be Oregon’s most versatile wine. It tastes as great with fresh seafood as it does with bold, spicy fare.
  • 2016 Feudo Palo Fiano: When Salvatore Montalbano turned 18, he asked his father if he could run the family vineyard. He agreed, but Salvatore would have to spend the next 10 years training. He took charge just recently, and the small section of the vineyard planted with Fiano vines receives his unconditional TLC. Salvatore captured the grapes’ flavors and freshness by fermenting the juice at a cool temperature over two months. Dad’s training clearly took.
  • 2015 Vermillion White Blend: Mad scientist? Perhaps—no one but Helen Keplinger would think to blend these seven grape varieties into one cohesive wine. Yet that’s why her creations—especially this one with Blue Apron—are so exciting. She typically uses each of the vineyards’ grapes to accent other wines she crafts, but Helen found that together they made for a wine with the weight to pair with rich foods and the complexity to match lighter, nuanced dishes. Take her word for it: “This is a fun, crazy blend.” This wine is a blend of 41% Viognier, 22% Chardonnay, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Sémillon, 5% Marsanne, 3% Roussanne, and 2% Tocai Friulano.
