Collection includes 6 x 500 mL bottles (2/3 of a standard-size wine bottle) featuring the following wines:
  • 2017 Leaf and Vine Zinfandel/Petite Sirah: Tim Keith is always pursuing bigger and better things—impressive given that he’s on his own at Leaf and Vine. Tim does every job, from hauling truckloads of grapes to pouring samples in his tasting room. You’d think there’d be no time for examination. Still, even though the 2016 vintage of this wine was anything but shy, he felt he couldn’t exercise a shred of restraint in 2017. “This year,” Tim says, “it’s a full-throttle wine.” Subtlety is so overrated. The wine is a blend of 55% Zinfandel and 45% Petite Sirah.
  • 2017 Le P'tit Paysan Cabernet Sauvignon: Wine maverick Ian Brand has crafted more Blue Apron wines than anyone else, for the simple reason that we can always expect a pleasant surprise—like a punk band releasing an acoustic tune. His 2016 Cabernet was a rustic, old-school delight. So in 2017, he sought to make a Cab that’s a little more modern, akin to the classic California Cabernets that balance intense fruit flavors with spicy, savory notes. One sip will leave you saying, “Rock on, Ian.”
  • 2016 Bellbird White Blend: Usually the only white wine Blair Guthrie makes is Chardonnay. But when a friend with a small vineyard gave him a taste of French Colombard, a grape normally distilled for Cognac, Blair knew he could use it to make a zesty, perfectly balanced wine that’s great with food. After blending in his beloved Chardonnay to lend weight, and Gewürztraminer for aromas, Blair not only achieved balance but the most important thing of all: “just a really fun, funky white wine.”
  • 2017 Brick & Mortar Rose: Winemaker Matt Iaconis has a nose for remote, rough-and-tumble old-vine vineyards—hidden gems that have weathered a severe drought or two. These plots yield the top-quality grapes required to make Matt’s wines, renowned for their precision and deliciousness—particularly his rosé. While he racks up high scores for his Pinots and Chardonnays, rosé is Matt’s most sought-after wine. Normally modest, Matt isn’t shy about why his rosé sells out quickly each year: “I’m really good at it.”
  • 2017 Le P'tit Paysan Verdelho blend: Ian Brand has made more wines with Blue Apron than anyone else, and this white epitomizes why. Nerdiness, obsession or a combination of the two drove Ian to study the soil and climate of the few California vineyards that grow Verdelho and Albariño (grape varieties from Portugal and Spain, respectively). He discovered it is possible to make a wine as delicious as any from the Iberian Peninsula—and that’s delightful with our light, aromatic dishes. Obrigado and gracias are in order. This wine is a blend of 90% Verdelho and 10% Albariño.
  • 2017 Lusu Cellars Carignan: David Teixeira grew up in a winemaking family, picking grapes with his relatives. All that early experience taught him that some of California’s best vineyards aren’t in prestigious regions—and not to fear Carignan. It often yields a hard-edged, tannic wine, but with attentive farming and careful handling you get a juicy, complex red that’s incredible when served with almost any dish. David’s mastery of Carignan has made him one of California’s most celebrated young winemakers.
