Game Day Wine Bundle: 12-pack

Game Day Wine Bundle: 12-pack

  • Price $120.00

This party bundle is perfect for those hosting a larger soirée, featuring twelve bottles in total: three of each of the wines in the six-bottle Game Day sampler and an additional three bottles of a 2016 Brick & Mortar Pinot Noir/Syrah.

Are you ready for the big game? Win at hosting with this party bundle of twelve bottles of wine! This quaffable sampler features four different wines made in the USA: a 2016 Matthiasson White, a 2014 Scribner Clay Chenin Blanc, a 2015 Ryme Syrah/Grenache red, and a 2016 Brick & Mortar Pinot Noir/Syrah. These high-acidity wines are fun, both quenching your thirst while simultaneously bringing you back for another sip (a necessary feature for watching long games!). We've chosen lighter varieties for this bundle—varieties like Grenache and Pinot Noir aren't too weight-y on the palate and thus won't cause fatigue if you're drinking more than one glass. These wines are designed to pair well with your Game Day Party Eats, whether it is the Pimento Cheese & Prosciutto Flatbread or the BBQ Chicken Sandwiches!

Collection includes 12 x 500 mL bottles (2/3 of a standard-size wine bottle) featuring three of each of the following wines:
  • 2016 Matthiasson White Wine: One afternoon in 2003, in-demand viticulturist Steve Matthiasson arrived home and said to his wife, Jill, “You won’t believe how good the grapes I tasted today were.” They decided that if Steve could help others grow grapes for great wines, together they could make incredible wines of their own—such as this unique white blend that critics love every vintage. The New York Times’ Eric Asimov once proclaimed Matthiasson White so good, “[f] don’t care which grapes went into it.” Matthiasson White is out of this world. Rather than fit the style of any particular region or variety, it was created to offer powerful, complex flavors but with lower alcohol.
  • 2014 Scribner Clay Chenin Blanc: We’ve struck gold with this Chenin Blanc from Clarksburg, a former Gold Rush town still inhabited by descendants of its original settlers. Clarksburg is known by wine lovers for the characteristic melon flavor in its Chenin Blanc and for its claylike soils, perfect for this grape. Despite the term “clay,” the soil is extremely well-drained, thanks to sandy runoff from old mines nearby. The father-and-son team of Ian and Kurt Jonson farm 18-year-old Chenin Blanc vines. Scribner Clay Chenin Blanc is a light-bodied, aromatic white that showcases melon flavors characteristic of Clarksburg-region wines.
  • 2015 Ryme Syrah/Grenache: For Ryan and Megan Glaab, winemaking is a matter of the heart. They met while working at Australian winery Torbreck, known for its bold reds made from century-old vines. Ryan and Megan—Ryme, get it?—returned home to California and became a winemaking tour de force. This robust Rhône-style red, made using some of California’s oldest vines, is not only a wine the Glaabs love, it’s a warm reminder of how it all began. Ryme Rhône-Style Red is what you would expect from a fruit-forward California red, yet it has the spicy intensity typical of a southern Rhône red such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
  • 2016 Brick & Mortar Pinot Noir/Syrah: It’s rare to find a blend of Pinot Noir and Syrah—then again, it’s rare to find a winemaker like Matt Laconis. He only graduated college in 2008, but he searches offbeat areas for old-vine vineyards like a seasoned pro. All the more reason why he could see right away that the adjacent Pinot and Syrah vineyards he found would lead to a balanced fruity-spicy red. Brick & Mortar Vin Rouge is probably unlike any red you’ve tasted. It has the bright berry flavors of a California Pinot, yet is accented with a peppery bite from the Syrah — forming a softer, more approachable wine. This wine is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Syrah.
