Entertaining Sampler

  • Price $38.00

This delicious bundle features one white and two reds from California. The white is the 2018 Grape to Bottle Albariño from Markus Bokisch, a grape variety that thrives in the Galicia region of Spain-- though it has now shown great promise in California. The two red blends include the Zinfandel-based Field Recordings Fiction Red Blend, made from Paso Robles grapes and crafted by Andrew Jones, and the Vermillion Red Blend, a Rhone-style wine from grapes grown in Sonoma and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This Vermillion is crafted under the hands of Helen Keplinger, Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year.

Collection includes 3 x 500 mL bottles (2/3 of a standard-size wine bottle) featuring the following wines:
  • 2018 GTB Albariño: Markus Bokisch, a leader in the ongoing quality revolution occurring in the Lodi appellation of California, decided to focus on Spanish wine-grape varieties at his home ranch which included Albariño, a grape native to the Galicia area of northwestern Spain. Richard Sowalsky was able to secure grapes from this singular vineyard, yielding a uniquely bright and delicious white wine, with fruit drive and minerality.
  • 2015 Field Recordings Fiction Red Blend: “Fiction” Red has the full body and concentration common in Paso Robles reds, yet the flavors are complex, even playful, for an otherwise serious wine. This wine is a blend of 48% Zinfandel, 15% Syrah, 14% Mourvèdre, 8% Graciano, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Touriga Nacional, 3% Carignan. Andrew Jones wanted his wines to be distinctive, down to the finest detail—including having the American oak for his barrels aged in France. “This is old-school California wine meets Côtes du Rhône,” Andrew says. “It’s the best everyday red I can make.”
  • 2014 Vermillion Red Blend: The wine world is grateful Helen Keplinger didn’t go to medical school; no one is better at creating captivating flavor combinations in wine. It’s why she graced the cover of Wine Spectator and was Food & Wine‘s Winemaker of the Year. The accolades were hard-earned: Many weeks, Helen drives 1,200 miles between the vineyards she’s identified as California’s best to watch each plot’s ripening progress and ensure harvest at just the right moment. She blended grapes from those sites to craft this complex red. This wine is blend of 42% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 15.5% Mourvèdre, and 6.5% Petite Sirah.
